Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA): Potentialities

For the 2016 Singapore International Festival of Arts, the theme “Potentialities” was defined by Festival Director Ong Keng Sen as a latent power that looks toward the future rather than the grimness of the present. This optimism created a key challenge: how do you visualise something that has yet to fully take shape?

We developed a festival identity designed not just to inform, but to spark curiosity. Translating the abstract idea into fur‑like tactile typography, the visual language invited audiences to question what they were seeing and, through that intrigue, discover the festival’s programme.

Revamped festival was widely heralded in the press, and attendance increased dramatically each year, reaching a record 155,000 in 2016.
